I regularly look for creative or distinctive gifts for Christmas. However, if anybody out there concludes that buying personalized gifts is like buying common gifts, I beg you to think again. Think hard and think long. I recently purchased one of these, I won’t mention the site because I’m an embroidery digitizer. I make products that the personalized gift vendors sell and incredibly, that company could be a customer of mine! However, this website, that I found somehow, were quick to take my money , but customer satisfaction was not their strong point. Only later did I discover that many people complained, but since I did not ask around in advance, I didn’t find out until it was too late.
This lesson was brought to me by the school of hard knocks…my advice is don’t trust a company just because they have a website. And, ask friends. It’s only your friends who have no vested interest in the decisions you make. Anyways, I digress… The product I bought was personalized and not only do you need to purchase these items way in advance, some of these people (and I use that temr loosely) they really make you jump thru hoops when there’s a flaw. So, be very precise about… 1. Give out the exact spelling right from the start and 2. Order in advance so that a mistake can be fixed. And Oh!..one more.. 3. Determine how nice their customer service is BEFORE you order. Good luck!
